Own 8 pairs of B357 shorts. Loved them so purchased these for winter. Cargo pockets are placed about 1" lower than shorts. Anything heavy in cargo pockets rubs and bangs knees also tends to catch when using stairs or ladders. Very annoying when carrying something .Will have local tailor raise pockets to restore functionality.

I purchased several pair in different colors. 1st wash all colors faded. I am hugely disappointed. As a woodsman in Alaska I have worn carhartts for about ever. My old old carhartts look new compared to these. Must have been a bad run of dye or something. Since I had washed them the retailer would not allow a return.

These are very tough pants. I like all of the pockets and the hammer loop. However, The cargo pockets are in the wrong location. They ride too low and whatever is in the pockets bangs into your knees all day long. if the hammer loop and cargo pockets were about 4 inches or ao higher these pants would be perfect. I guess I will have to go back to the carpentar pants. they dont have as many pockets but atlteast they are in the right location. Work on it Carhartt.

I've been wearing Carhart pants for at least the last 20 years. I work as a carpenter so the pants get heavy use. I have some pants that just feel broken in after 3 or 4 months, these were completely shot. They are not durable fabric at all. The cuffs were all ragged, the seams between the thighs were threadbare and ripping after a short time. I liked the fit, so like a dummy I bought another pair, but didn't work in them. It didn't matter, same problems after a dozen or so wearings. Expensive for such flimsy pants

I bought one pair of these pants 6 months ago figuring I would give them a try. I was tired of wrecking all my jeans at work. I work in Building and grounds maintenance for the City of Toledo. My job duties vary greatly from day to day. These pants are comfortable year round. Durable beyond anything I have tried previously. My only complaints would be that they are not available in dark or navy blue and the hammer loop is on the left hand side.

This are of a much heavier ??ripstop?? material than I??m used to. That??s neither good or bad, just something to be aware of. I intended to wear these for hot Summer weather but they??re just as heavy, if not heavier than my denims. A number of innovations make these a buy: I like the Hand pocket design for measuring tapes! Just as good is the heavy duty protector lining inside and flips out over the edge of where the tape clips for extra long wear! Same with the butt pockets but I would personally prefer the ribbon material to be at the leg-hem (sp?) The pants do run a bit long (great for me) but I feel like this is where they will wear out first. LOVE the new thigh pocket design! You guys did really well in coming up with those fancy flaps & snaps! One thing to improve on, and I see it all the time with all other brands?.PUT THE HAMMER LOOP ON THE RIGHT THIGH, NOT THE LEFT!! 9 out of 10 people are RIGHT HANDED. Picture this: Your nail pouch has to be clipped on your left since your hamme

I purchased these pants two months ago and they fit great. The pockets have ample room and the snaps stay buttoned up, one was a bit to hard and wound up breaking off. The only problem I have with the pants is the crotch has started to rip along the seams and makes a cold day really uncomfortable. If you have anything long in the pockets that are always on you like a knife it may wear threw the front of the pants. Overall not bad pants just need a better crotch and a true rip stop fabric.

I love these pants. I have tried out numerous styles of work pants for carpentry work and these suit my needs the best. I don't even need a tool belt anymore. I utilize the array of pockets and the hammer loop and the reinforced tape measure pocket. However, the 2 spots that wear out the quickets are the hammer loop and the tape measure pocket. I am about ready to order my 5th pair, but on all my previous pairs, it's been the hammer loop that tears off (after about 10 months of use or so), and then the tape measure pocket starts splitting and becomes unuable. I have 2 of these pants that are still usable right now and I have alternated use wearing them 5 days a week (and some weekends) for a year now, and they are both getting holes in the knees and the middle area. There may be more durable pants out there, but these are the most comfortable and flexible I have ever come across. With finish carpentry, I am constantly on my knees and performing a lot of up&down motions every day. I don't think I would choose a different pants selection. One other oddity is that I purchased a khaki color and a brown color (same size and all) but the brown pants fit a bit tighter. But all pants are like that. So no biggy. I am majorly bummed that the store I have been purchasing these at no longer carry this particular pant. They have the firm/inflexible duck pants now.

This last set of ripstop pants may be my last. The fact that the side pockets were lowered a solid inch was by far the worse thing that could have happened. I have been buying 8 new pair of carhartts every fall for work for the last 30 years.... the side cargo pockets have become useless. I used to keep a knife in one of the pen pockets and my iPhone in another, now they both bounce against the side of my knee as I work and cause discomfort after a 10 hour shirt. So very unhappy

I only wear Carhartt pants, period! "SEVEN"belt loops, "TWO snaps (not little pieces of velcro) per cargo pocket "Copper" rivets at stress points on front pockets. Plus, "TWO" layers of ripstop on leg and knee. I can't go wrong with this company! When other manufacturers are thinning out, cutting back, reducing material and accessories, no way will I go that route. Thanks Carhartt for: STILL CONSTRUCTING A QUALITY PRODUCT at a reasonable price.

The small diameter in the legs and knees make it tough to climb, kneel down, and go up steps. It's as if these pants were made more for fashion than function. The space in the large cargo pockets can't be used fully because they cause the pants to squeeze the leg tighter, restricting movement. As a slim guy I never thought I would have this problem. The kind lady on the phone informed me that for the 30x32 size, the leg diameter is 16 7/8". Roughly an inch less than my cargo work pants of another brand. It's upsetting that for $54.99, more thought wasn't put into the design of these pants.

Well, I finally broke down and ordered two more pairs of these, albeit in one size(waist and inseam) larger. My only gripe is that the sizes run small. From commercial hvac to weekend firewood operations, and now full time firewood operations, these have held up to the abuse. When I find myself trudging through prickers one minute, and then scuffing around underneath my dump truck in gravel parking lots the next minute, the last thing I want to worry about is whether or not my pants will hold up. Thanks to such a durable product, I have been able to concentrate fully at the job at hand, rather than clothing malfunctions! I did eventually wear a few holes in them, but only under the harshest of conditions. But I'm not retiring them; my wife had them repaired by a seamstress, and they should last a few more years! A couple notes: The pockets are a little shallow for my big hands, but house my keys well, and since there are multiple pockets, I've never lost anything with these pants, just don't overload the front pockets. The extra fabric to hold your knife has proven durable and has kept all but the loosest clasp, fully in place. One on the left would be a welcome addition! And finally, the front fabric above the double knee area has worn thin, mostly due to sharpening chainsaw chains on my lap. And I managed to catch a spot below the belt above the right back pocket on a branch whilst climbing a tree, and the pants ripped wide open, not something I'd expect from "ripstop" pants. So after 4 years, I finally ripped them beyond wearing them another day until fixed. That's about perfect as far as I'm concerned! Thanks for another great product Carhartt! Ps. How about a version made in the USA? I would pay the extra..

I love the look, features and overall durability of these pants. HOWEVER, they fail in the comfort arena. There is insufficient room for the male parts of a male worker, need more room in the crotch (front an back) - it's like these pants were designed for women by women who don't have these parts!! . Even your own site pictures show these things hiked up the male-models but-crack.. it's like the design intent was for a fashion show not worker comfort!! One other issue, the right pocket includes additional nylon material sewn into the outside bottom of the pocket for a tool or knife CLIP etc... however, the top of the tool wears thru the cotton material on the inside of the pocket - need nylon there also. The way it is now... consider the nylon at the lower edge of the pocket entrance useless, because if you use it for it's designed purpose, the inside of the pocket, where the top of the tool rubs, will fail. For these two reasons (especially the comfort issue) I have had to look elsewhere for my workwear! So have several of the guys I work with and others I have talked with on the matter. Fix it and I'll (We'll) return to Carhartt !!!

These are my favorite work pants, I wore carpenter jeans for over twenty years and have now switched to these great pants. my only complaint is like all cargo style pockets they are placed too low on the leg! I took a pair to my seamstress to have them sewn on higher up, but this is not cost effective due to the purchase price of the pants.

Good for work and casual wear. Pockets on the outside of both legs handle the large size smartphones easily. For my purposes, the top layer pocket on the right might be better if it was not split into the two narrow channels in the present design, but the two slots are okay for carrying tools such as a screwdriver or drywall knife without them shifting sideways. Based on a previous pair purchased, the durability and appearance have been excellent. A little stiff at the start, these pants will soften with washing and wear.

#1 The fabric fades fast under normal wear. #2 If you're gonna have a wear patch on the front right pocket for knife/flashlight/tool storage, put one on the left pocket also- not everyone wears their tool in their right pocket. #3 The snaps on the cargo pockets don't stay snapped. I actually use the small pocket on the right side with the snap and actually expect them to stay snapped to keep my important stuff secured.

Bought 1 pair of these for work. The waist ran 1 size to small, the length 1 size to big. They are comfortable and durable. They do well for kneeling in ballast and climbing over cars. All the pockets are great for switch lists and other odds and ends I have to carry through the day. They do not work as well if you wear thermals under them as they have so many seams inside of them that the thermals try to pull them down when you bend and stoop. During warmer days they are wonderful.

I install Windows and I bought a pair of these so called "rip stop " pants and after one washing and wearing them I now have holes in my back pocket and inside the back pocket luckily they don't line up. I will never purchase these pants again they didn't even last a month. Poor quality and for what I spent I could have bought two pairs of jeans and they would have lasted longer.

I started mowing last summer for a summer job and i wore these pants the first day. well it just so happened that the first yard i mowed had a nasty dog in the back yard. I started mowing and that dog came out and bit my leg! These pants stopped that dog from chewing up my leg. There weren't even any holes in my pants from the teeth! This is a great pair of pants and i would buy them again they are worth the money.

I do industrial engineering and have a bad knee from an accident years ago. I am very hands on and i am constantly bending down on concrete floors working with equipment. I purchased a pair in each color and actually got two of the dark brown. The fact that these are cargo pants and had the double fronts sold me. Overall the pants seem durable and feel good. The problem i have is with the double fronts. The stitch for the cargo pockets goes through both the outside layer of fabric and the inside layer. When trying to insert one of the higher quality foam knee pads it will not fit and you have to trim the top corner closest to the cargo pocket. Trimming the knee pad in this location makes the top portion extends up somewhat off center from my knee. The top portion of the knee pad (even if it was not trimmed) sits just below my knee and requires me to "teach myself" to pull my pants leg up slightly before kneeling down. From a design standpoint I would suggest moving the opening and stitch for the double front up 2-3 inches and stitching the cargo pocket in a way so that you can fully insert a foam knee that will make more contact with the knee area of the pants. If i was to do it over again i would buy carhartts with double fronts and opt out of the cargo pocket feature considering putting off knee surgery is more important than cargo pockets.

I really likes these pants at first, and wanted to continue doing so, but the holes that started appearing at random eventually rendered them unwearable. These weren't holes from snags, or wear spots either. Some were in the middle of the shin, down near the ankle, on the upper thigh, and in the seat. They seemed to start coming from nowhere and would then get bigger with every wash. I was bummed to say the least. Not was I was used to from Carhartt. Side note: I tried to buy another pair but my wife accidentally purchased a pair of B195 pants size 32x34 in Army Green. These have now become my favorite pants, but wouldn't you know it, I can't find them anywhere! Everywhere I look says that they are out of stock.

I work in the forestry industry, and climbing trees is one of my main jobs. I was very excited to purchase these pants because they were light weight, and supposedly semi-resistant to rips/piercing. However, after buying five pairs at one time and using them every day for several months, I found them to be weak in design and fit. The fit was not right, and were too tight around my waist, but at the same time were baggy in the legs. After putting the fabric through the ringer, I found that the crotch was almost more susceptible to friction wear than traditional jeans. I also found that the fabric was very easily pierced by thorns and other sharp things. After two pairs of these pants became unusable due to crotch wear out, I have switched back to wearing jeans. Another problem is that the rip stop feature does not actually stop the rip. Several of the holes in my pants have continued to rip and fray. The cost of these pants are not worth their performance in the field. While the pants look good and are light weight and breathable, I have been frustrated with their performance in a hard environment. Originally pleased, ultimately disappointed.

I'm ruff on all of my clothes. I work daily with heavy steel and moving cargo. I have two pairs of these that I rotate out all week. I've been wearing them for just over 5 years at work in the Naval Shipyard and they are still in great shape. The pockets are great for carrying tools, knife, multi-tool, flash light note pads and anything else I need. I did move the thigh pockets up some to keep the bottom of the thigh pocket away from my knee when I have to squat down getting through ships. Great product, I'm getting two pairs for my oldest boy on pay day.

I was excited to get these pants and bought two pairs, one from a Carhartt store south of Portland, OR and one pair through the Carhartt website, one in black and one in green. The fit were excellent and the weight of the material was perfect for everyday usage. Now to my gripes: the black pair seemed to fade almost immediately even though I started washing them in cold. Then I noticed a hole developing at the top of the cargo pocket. My green pair also has a hole above the cargo pocket and in the front of the pant as well. Aside from these issues I still love my pants but I expected more than six months of usage.

I love everything about these work pants with one exception. The pocket placements are a bit too low for me. Keep in mind, I needed to hem them 2", from a 30" to a 28" inseam (30" is the shortest available i could find). I feel like a need to bend at the waist just a little too much to reach tools in the leg pockets. Maybe it's just me..

Best darn pants I ever owned! And here's why, I had these babies sent to me while working agriculture and forestry for Peace Corps, Zambia (Sub-Saharan Africa). Two weeks after I got'em, I visited some Lions and Cheetah's at wildcat sanction near one of the major game parks. I made the mistake of walking in front one of the Cheetah's! A 2 year male clawed my front leg. This was play time but for me this was serious. Luckily, I had these on that day... he failed to do any damage to my leg or these pants. Not a scratch! However 30 months through thick African bush and one year of Landscaping later, I finally wore through these Puppies, now I back to buy another pair.

I thought these pants were perfect, the gusset in the crotch was comfortable, the material breathed well, the pockets seemed durable, and then I climbed a tree in them. I didn't notice anything while I was in the tree, but the next morning I went to pull them on, and ripped right through the leg. The pants were annihilated. The "ripstop" fabric was threadbare and brittle after one tree. I guess they were nice for the week.

I am a biologist and a lot of my work is done outside and in some pretty extreme conditions that most work pants don't usually see. These are the only pants I wear. The fit to the leg so they don't get snagged on brush, the double knee and ripstop holds up really well, and those pockets are infinitely helpful. There is a pocket for everything! If they ever stop making these pants I'll just stop doing field work.

BEFORE ORDERING!!: These Ripstop pants seem to run a little small. I am normally a 38X30 or 40X30 in Carhart pants but in the Ripstop I had to get 42X32. And yes, I tried on several other Carhartt pants to confirm it was not just me! I work in the heavy truck industry and my job requires me to both look presentable for office interations and be prepared to jump out in the shop or outside to work with the technicians and customers. These Ripstop pants meet all requirements and are comfortable to boot! I have only had them for a few months, so I can not yet comment on long term performance but have been very happy to this point.

I purchased two pairs and wear them casually and to informal clubs with loafers and vans and think they're great. I love the design, material, quality construction, and colors. I have medium sized legs, however, and they are tapered narrowly and are a bit too tight in the knees and calves (which is in the current 'skinny jeans' style) and don't think they would work too well with boots on as the leg opening is 17 inches (I believe). I would love to see a version with a 19 inch leg opening with appropriate tapering (like the Hamilton pant or some of your dungaree styles - like the 1889). I bought a couple of the earlier rip stop pants with the too light 6oz material and these are much better. Definitely keep this version, but consider a second version (same style but with a little more leg room) - Also, they are heavy due to the 9.3 oz material and wear 'warm' at times which is great now for the Winter months, but consider keeping the base layer at 9.3 oz, but could the double layer and pockets could be 6 oz material? - This would lighten the weight and wear less 'hot' in the summer months. I do love these pants though. Thanks.

Don't let the term "ripstop" fool you. The product description clearly says 9.25 oz ripstop, and that is exactly what it is. I was expecting something considerably lighter weight than this. This is easily the thickest ripstop material I have ever seen. Waistline feels a bit more snug than usual, but that could also be due to the thicker material. While it is not what I expected, I think these will make some great winter work pants. I like that the cargo pockets seem to ride a little higher than usual, which is great for us short-legged types.
